Nikon Coolpix S550

I got my new digital camera two weeks ago. I wanted a camera that would take good pictures, and was small enough to carry in my purse. Buying it was overwhelming, because there were so many choices. I asked Carl and Vance to pick one out for me, but they wouldn’t – they did finally narrow it down to the Nikon Coolpix S550 and a Canon camera, and I chose the Nikon. Some of the features of this camera are:

  • 10 megapixels
  • 5X optical zoom
  • Electronic vibration reduction image stabilization
  • Smile mode

At two and a half inches, the LCD screen on this camera is pretty good sized. It’s thin and light (only four and a half ounces) so it’s easy to carry. A couple of the features I really like are the electronic vibration reduction and thumbnail playback. I usually have trouble getting pictures of Vance with his eyes open, but that hasn’t been a problem with this camera. So far, I’ve found this camera reliable and easy to use. It’s easy to download pictures to your computer, too. There are several features, like panorama, that I haven’t used, so I don’t know how well they work. I’m pleased with the quality of the only picture I’ve printed.

I took this picture with the Nikon Coolpix S550. This is Vance with his new glasses – notice his eyes are open.
