Mailbox Monday
October 19, 2009
Mailbox Monday is one of my favorite memes, so I’m sending a big thanks to Marcia of The Printed Page for hosting it. Check out her blog to see what everyone else got last week or to play along. I had such a fun week last week – this is what I found in my mailbox:
Monday
- Sunflowers by Sheramy Bundrick came from Book Club Girl for a Blog Talk Radio show on November 2 at 7 PM
Tuesday
- BBAW win from author Sarah Pekkanen which included a copy of her book The Opposite of Me, tea, Godiva chocolates, a Root candle and a monogram bookmark. I did a little happy dance when I opened the book because it’s the first one Sarah ever signed!
- Burial by Neil Cross came from Simon & Schuster UK
Wednesday
- Mennonite in a Little Black Dress by Rhoda Janzen came from Henry Holt
Thursday
- Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford and 2 bags of Hershey’s Bliss chocolates came from Random House
- I Have My Mother’s Eyes by Barbara Ruth Bluman came from Ronsdale Press for “It’s Time for a Green Book” Day on November 10
Friday
- Cherries in Winter by Suzan Colón came from Doubleday
What new books arrived at your house last week?

I’d say you had a great week! I read a review about Mennonite so want that one, and have heard about hotel as well…but the chocolate is the clincher – great week!
I didn’t get chocolate with my copy of Hotel on The Corner of Bitter and Sweet! Yum! Enjoy the books.
Fantastic week! I received a package from Sarah Pekkanan a few months back, and it was the ideal comfort package!
Looks like you got some fantastic goodies this week!
Yum! Chocolate, tea, and books! The perfect combination!
The books sounds good, but I am a chocolate gal so I would be happiest about that 😉
Wow, books and chocolate…2 of my favorite things! You had a good week!
The title, I Have My Mother’s Eyes…. That gets me. I do, in real life. The only thing that I have of her. It’s a line (this title) that I’ve said to myself several times.
What a great mailbox week. Color me jealous! Good thing I don’t live close to you or I’d be sneaking over to pilfer from your mailbox. LOL!
Wow, you really got some nice surprises this week. I love when books come with *other* stuff too! (especially chocolate!)
What a great week full of goodies! Receiving a signed book is always such a wonderful feeling. 😀
Wow, you had a fabulous week. Great books, tea AND chocolate. It gets no better than that. Enjoy!
How perfect. A book, tea and chocolate! that’s fab.
Wonderful assortment of books! The Sarah Pekkanen pack looks especially terrific. How did you know it was the first book she signed — does she number them? In any event this sounds like a real collectors item. Congrats!
Wow, you had a great week. And yummy, too.
What a fun week-chocolates and tea to boot-I am wanting to read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and sweet. Mennonite in a Black Dress sounds interesting also.
Chocolate and books! Delicious combination. 🙂 Enjoy your new books, Kathy!
Are you going to write a review on the tea? 😀 It looks interesting.
As if books weren’t enough, what fun treats you got along with them. Enjoy!
Arriving in my mailbox last week were:
Fallen by Lauren Kate (an ARC from the publisher) and
The Triumph of Deborah by Eva-Etzioni-Halevy (from the author).
Books and goodies too! How lucky. Jamie Ford’s book sounds good. I received the memoir Raindrops, Glimpses, Moments by Len Richman, a local author and actor.
OK very jealous of the books and the chocolate… The only thing I ever got with my books were chocolate stained pages 🙂
Here’s mine
Tea, chocolate and books! How perfect is that?! Enjoy your goodies!
Books + chocolates = BLISS! Enjoy!
Hey, I’ve never received chocolate with a book! I’m all over that. I really liked Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by the way (on audio).
Great set of books to read!

Wow, girl that mailbox is full to the brim with goodies! Jealous of all that chocolate!
Happy Reading.
Books, bookmarks and chocolate – what else can one ask for? 😀
Chocolate………………
Books AND chocolates! I’m just a little bit jealous 🙂
Wow! Congrats on your BBAW win. . . and on your chocolates!! I LOVE Hershey Bliss. . . . hmmmm. . . . cravings are setting in now and I think I need to run to the grocery store.

I’M jealous of the chocolate and teas 🙂 enjoy your treats.
You not only are in book heaven, you’re in chocolate heaven. I count that as a fabulous week!

What a wonderful mailbox week, and a lovely package from Sarah Pekkenen ~ enjoy!
You certainly have a haul this week!
I only got two, but I’m always delighted with whatever I receive.
My post is here: http://laurelrainsnowcreations.blogspot.com
So glad you’re enjoying – and I really hope you like The Opposite of Me (someone asked if I number my books when I sign them – nope. These are the galleys, fresh off the presses, and after I signed it I realized it was the first book I’d ever signed. What a fun feeling!)
By the way, I do a giveaway of a book and Godivas for my newsletter subscribers every month… just in case anyone else is craving some goodies 🙂
Wow, books, chocolate, and bookmarks-your mailbox is totally rocking this week! I hope you enjoy all your goodies!
I am insanely jealous about you getting “The Opposite of Me!” I can’t wait to read that one.
I’m still waiting on Sunflowers for Book Club Girl’s show. For some reason Calif always takes the longest. I hope I have time to read it.
Ooh, I’m wishing I’d gotten chocolates in the mail! Lucky you! (Plus all your books sound good too.) Actually, maybe it’s just as well no chocolates came my way, since I’m on a diet and off chocolate for now… Enjoy your books!
As if books weren’t a wonderful enough thing to find in your mailbox, chocolates and a candle are the best!
Chocolate and tea coming with your books? How cool is that. 🙂 Enjoy!
You had a good week of great books! Love the win from Sara Pekkanen including her first signed book that’s definitely worth a happy dance!
I received Cherries in Winter too and it looks wonderful! And you know I am very interested in Sunflowers, I hope you like it!
Enjoy & Happy Reading!
Chocolates and books! They’re perfect combinations! ;P
Wow, you got some great reading treats!
Wow – I am so jealous of your week. One of my favorite things in the world is to receive packages in the mail.. and you received one every day of the week! I am sooo absolutely jealous! What a great week!
Wow! You got chocolate in the mail … with a book? I’m totally jealous!!! And I’m interested to see what you think about the Mennonite book!
I love the title, “Mennonite in a little black dress” can’t wait to hear about that one!! Enjoy those great goodies!
Chocolate and books, what a combo!. I’ve been wanting to read the Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet
Okay, it’s really wrong of me to be jealous of all of the chocolate you got (especially since I have a kitchen full of ghirardelli that my husband brought home). I think I need to go eat some of my chocolate now so that I won’t be thinking about the Godiva chocolates you got. 🙂
Oh you get the best stuff! I have a few of the books on my wish list. And congratulations- you’re the winner of The Opposite Of Me and those Godiva chocolates! Lucky, mmmm. I can’t complain- I won the alternative fiction prize pack, just haven’t received it yet.
What a great week!
I want to read “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet”, too, so I can’t wait to hear what you think of it. Enjoy your books!
Pass some of that chocolates to me!

Wow! What a wonderful week! Hope you enjoy all your new books…and that yummy chocolate!
I’m green with envy that you’ve got a sneak peek at THE OPPOSITE OF ME! Sarah’s newsletter and blog posts (she’s at Debutante’s Ball) are so engaging; we’re all awaiting this book.
Chocolate, tea, and all those other books – you hit the jackpot!
