Mailbox Monday November 16

The nosy part of me just loves seeing what new books everyone else got, so Mailbox Monday is one of my favorite memes.  Thanks to Marcia of The Printed Page for hosting it each week.

I actually made a dent in my TBR pile last week!  This is what I found in my mailbox:

Tuesday

Wow, that is one ginormous book! Great news you’re making progress on the tbr pile! Wish I could say the same…

That’s a lovely cover design for Fast Food Nation. It’s a great book- horrifying, but great.

  5. November 16, 2009 8:05 am

Looks like we both had a slow week! Mine was much needed. I am so excited to read Hummingbirds.

I can’t wait to hear about FAST FOOD NATION! You’ll probably have a big week this week!

  9. November 16, 2009 8:20 am

I still need to read Fast Food Nation. I know it ‘s going to disturb the to-go burgers right out of me, but I’m ok with that.

  10. November 16, 2009 8:48 am

Oooh, I see a chunkster. I had no idea that book was so huge. I really want to hear what you have to say about that one.

  11. November 16, 2009 9:08 am

A few years ago I read Fast Food Nation and found it to be The Jungle for our generation.

  12. November 16, 2009 10:27 am

Congrats on making a dent in your tbr pile. I’m definitely trying to do the same. My mailbox has slowed down considerably and will stay that way until I can clear out some of the books I have piling up.

Very curious about Fast Food Nation! How will that hold up against your cookie recipes? Total opposite ideas, with similar, hip-widening effects! Thanks for taking the time to comment on my blog!

  15. November 16, 2009 11:25 am

I bet FAST FOOD NATION is interesting (scary/interesting!). I read SUPER SIZE ME several years ago; what a wake up call!

    Enjoy your new books, Kathy.

  16. November 16, 2009 11:45 am

I wonder why Fast Food Nation looks so large, the copy I had was not even close in size to what you have there. I enjoyed it though. It was a real eye opener.

  17. November 16, 2009 11:48 am

I’ve heard Fast Food Nation is really good. I’ll be curious to read your thoughts on it, Kathy.

  18. November 16, 2009 11:56 am

    I received hummingbirds as well.

  19. November 16, 2009 12:15 pm

Both of those books look good, and it’s nice to have slow mail weeks once in a while in order to catch up.

  20. November 16, 2009 12:32 pm

Wow, that edition of “Fast Food Nation” is incredibly huge. Is it a large print edition, or something? I ask because the first edition paperback isn’t nearly so large. In any case, it’s a great book. You’ll never look at fast food the same way again. 🙂

Slow weeks are good. Enjoy your new books!
