Shelf Discovery Mini-Challenge – Judy Blume

February 1, 2010

I’ve been having so much fun looking through Shelf Discovery: The Teen Classics We Never Stopped Reading by Lizzie Skurnick, I asked Booking Mama if I could host a mini-challenge for The Shelf Discovery Challenge.   I read Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret, my first Judy Blume book ever, for this challenge and I just loved it, so I thought Judy Blume books would be a great mini-challenge.

In order to participate in this challenge, you must be registered for The Shelf Discovery Challenge on Booking Mama’s blog – it’s not too late to sign up.   For this mini-challenge, all you have to do is read any (or all) of the Judy Blume books listed in Shelf Discovery.  Titles listed are:

  • STARRING SALLY J. FREEDMAN
  • ARE YOU THERE, GOD? IT’S ME, MARGARET.
  • BLUBBER
  • TIGER EYES
  • THEN AGAIN, MAYBE I WON’T
  • DEENIE
  • IT’S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD
  • FOREVER
  • WIFEY

Once you’ve written your “book report”, come back here and add it to Mr. Linky.  Past “book reports” count, as long as you read the book for The Shelf Discovery Challenge, so link those on here as well.  Since there are nine Judy Blume books listed, you can get up to nine entries!!   This mini-challenge will run for the month of February, and on March 1, I will use random.org to pick two different winners.  If you read all of the books, you can get nine entries, but you can only win one time.   Each winner will receive a $10.00 gift certificate to the bookstore of their choice (I must be able to buy the gift certificate on the internet.)  Good luck and happy reading!

Good luck with the challenge, Kathy! I couldn’t read Blume’s books fast enough when I was growing up.

Yay! Thanks so much for hosting. I already linked one of my reviews, but I don’t want to be included for prizes! I’m off to write something for my blog now!

Blume certainly is a prolific and popular author, and its so impressive that she writes for both genders and all age groups. Good challenge!

I’ve read four of them already, back when I ran amuck with all of my Shelf Discovery books. I’ll link them when I get a chance!

I just realized that I don’t think I signed up for this challenge yet and for some reason I keep saying i have to when ever I see it.

But i will do it today as I want to take part in this. I loved Judy Blume growing up and looking forward to rereading some of the books such as Are you their God? Deenie, Forever, Tiger Eyes and then again, Maybe I won’t.

Thanks Kathy for hosting this mini challenge.

I remember Wifey being a book that the adults were reading so I never read it. I have Deenie here to read which I have yet to read ever. I of course have many fond Judy Blume memories.
