Snow in the South

February 13, 2010

I know many of you are sick and tired of snow, but bear with me while I share a few pictures of the snowfall we had late yesterday.  Snow is a rarity for us, so it’s always an event when we do get.  I’m afraid this won’t last long, though – I’m watching it fall off the trees as I type this.

Snow can be very pretty at times…. when it’s not falling heavily & wreaking havoc on the roads, that is.

    Lovely pictures!

  2. February 13, 2010 9:37 am

Beautiful! Enjoy it while it lasts.

  3. February 13, 2010 9:40 am

Oh my gosh, those shots are beautiful. Enjoy the blue-white wonder while you have it.

Very pretty scene. That last one shows how deep the snow is. Wow!

    It’s so pretty! Great pictures.

  7. February 13, 2010 10:10 am

I’m not sick of it! I love looking at all the pretty pictures.

  8. February 13, 2010 10:15 am

I like your pictures. Pictures are ok, but the snow itself does get wearisome. The bottom picture, with the snow looking like a white cake on top of the post, shows how we judge the number of inches we have received, by looking at the undisturbed pileup on the deck railing.

  9. February 13, 2010 10:33 am

I think it’s gorgeous! I don’t see if often except on the mountains so thanks for sharing your pictures. 😉

  10. February 13, 2010 10:58 am

Is this your property? It is just beautiful with all the snow covered trees (although surrounding trees are beautiful no matter the season, as far as I am concerned)

Enjoy the white stuff while it lasts 🙂

This is lovely. We just missed it. Snow fell one county north of us and, of course, Dallas got a lot. I’ve enjoyed seeing everyone else’s pictures.

  12. February 13, 2010 11:35 am

Loved your pictures. Snow is rather rare in Denmark as well. We usually get a blizzard or two between November and April with the snow disappearing in a few days. This year though we’ve had snow since mid-December and very low temperatures, so the snow has stayed on the ground. I am sick and tired of it. Well, not so much of the snow because it is pretty, but of the cold…brrrr.

  13. February 13, 2010 12:22 pm

I think that’s very pretty and if it’s a rarity, like it sounds like it is, then you can enjoy it! Happy winter!

  14. February 13, 2010 12:22 pm

    Just Gorgeous Kathy.

I’m surprised you got that much in SC, but then it was 38 degrees this morning in Miami!! LOL

  15. February 13, 2010 12:24 pm

    Your pictures are beautiful!

  16. February 13, 2010 12:29 pm

They said this morning on the news that 49 states have snow. (Even Florida!) Unbelievable. I bet most of you in your neck of the woods don’t quite know what to do! Go make a snow angel, then come in, have some hot chocolate and read a book!

  17. February 13, 2010 12:32 pm

So beautiful! It’s like the perfect amount. Enough to look at and enjoy, but not enough to interrupt your lives too much.

  18. February 13, 2010 12:34 pm

Beautiful pictures! We never get snow where I live – I wish we did! Although it’s best if it doesn’t since it would probably cause a lot of damage.

I’m going to be in London in two weeks and I’m hoping it will snow at least a bit 🙂

  19. February 13, 2010 12:59 pm

I love snow! In spite of the battering we got! There’s nothing more beautiful I’ve seen. I really do get excited whenever there’s a snowfall or even flurries outside! 🙂

    Beautiful pictures!

  23. February 13, 2010 2:05 pm

Beautiful pictures! I want some snow too.

  24. February 13, 2010 2:12 pm

I love your pictures. I wish we had more snow. I could do with it for half term with the kids off.

  25. February 13, 2010 2:32 pm

Kathy Even though I am fed up with winter. I still love your pictures. It looks so pretty there. Its so fresh and white.

  26. February 13, 2010 2:48 pm

Is that where the snow went? I live in Virginia where snow is rare yet it snowed 4 times heavily. I was surprised when the storm went south, this is unusual. Enjoy it fully, beautiful photos !

  27. February 13, 2010 3:18 pm

Beautiful pictures!! I often get tired of the snow, but always enjoy the beauty of it – that’s not to say that I’m not gearing up for Spring, lol

  28. February 13, 2010 3:21 pm

wow… you all did get a lot of snow. There’s a ton up here outside NYC, but a surprising blanket for the south. But isn’t snow lovely? Now for a day of sledding!

  29. February 13, 2010 4:14 pm

Gorgeous photos, Kathy! If you find yourself in need of more snow, feel free to come up north a bit and help yourself. 🙂

  30. February 13, 2010 4:36 pm

    So pretty!!!

  31. February 13, 2010 4:37 pm

    Beautiful photos!

  32. February 13, 2010 4:46 pm

Snow can be such a lovely event when it doesn’t happen all that often can’t it? I always enjoy the first snow when it’s all pristine and settling down. Lucky for you it will melt away quickly! It’s been an odd winter hasn’t it?

  33. February 13, 2010 5:06 pm

Snow makes everything look more beautiful. And I say this even as I am surrounded by about 40 inches of it.

    Lovely pictures!

  34. February 13, 2010 5:33 pm

You didn’t get just a dusting either! The snow does always look lovely when it first falls; you’ll probably be lucky enough to have it melt before it reaches the ugly part I get so tired of.

  35. February 13, 2010 6:13 pm

It’s beautiful – and completely amazing that the snow fell so heavily on the south this year!

  36. February 13, 2010 6:26 pm

    Gorgeous pictures! Thanks for sharing.

  37. February 13, 2010 8:13 pm

You got a lot of snow (for your area!). My niece sent me some pics from their yard near Atlanta … so unusual. And in the Boston area, our blizzard was 1/2 inch!

(did you get out and make that snow angel, as Sandy suggested?)

  38. February 13, 2010 8:38 pm

winter wonderland! Thanks for sharing these pics!

  39. February 13, 2010 9:51 pm

Your pictures are beautiful. I haven’t been listening to the news so I hadn’t heard of your wonderful winter “gift.” Thanks for sharing.

  40. February 13, 2010 11:27 pm

I’m never tired of snow, gorgeous pictures.

  41. February 14, 2010 12:43 am

Gorgeous!!! Ours is mostly gone. It was such fun. 🙂

  42. February 14, 2010 3:34 am

Lovely photos! Snow is beautiful but after two months of snow, I’m ready for Spring. Still sometime to go here in Finland though..

Living in Minne-snowta this is a common sight for us, but I didn’t realize the south got more then a dusting at any one time. That’s a lot of snow!

  44. February 14, 2010 8:06 am

Glad to see you’re enjoying the snow — that’s just the right amount. It’s been more harrowing in Baltimore, where we had 40 inches last week. But having a sore back from shoveling means I have lots of time to sit and read.

  45. February 14, 2010 8:12 am

I wish Philippines had occasional light snow. I would really love to play and wear think clothing! A good alibi for me to buy boots!

  46. February 14, 2010 9:59 am

Your snow is beautiful. Ours on the other hand…

  47. February 14, 2010 11:09 am

Your snow looks beautiful but when it’s rare you may appreciate it more!

  48. February 14, 2010 1:03 pm

great photos! enjoy the snow 🙂

I love snow! we had three feet last week…way beyond out normal 6 inches or so and I still love it.

I have spent the week cleaning ice and snow off my car, again and again, and shoveling…and I still love it.

I had to drive to and from work in the midst of the worse of it, a blizzard…and I STILL LOVE IT! lol

  50. February 14, 2010 9:44 pm

Lovely photos!!! Enjoy your unusual weather!

  51. February 15, 2010 12:55 pm

Very pretty! I heard that 49 of the 50 states had some kind of snow on the ground on Friday. The only state that didn’t was Hawaii.

  52. February 15, 2010 1:24 pm

Thanks for sharing the photos. I love looking at snow, but hate dealing with it.

  53. February 16, 2010 8:46 am

I definitely fall into the sick of it category! LOL I cannot wait for spring and the melting to begin. Yes, I said begin. It has still not happened and I feel like I live in the tundra!

  54. February 16, 2010 10:44 am

I’m glad you got some snow Kathy! I know it’s exciting for you. I’ll be quite happy if I don’t see anymore until next year. lol.

  55. February 17, 2010 8:26 am

Looks like you got the pretty snow. 🙂 I enjoy it when there’s just enough to cover the ground but not so much that it closes the schools for over a week. Today is my first day back to “normal” since the blizzard. Glad to be out and about since I was going stir crazy!

  56. February 18, 2010 2:52 pm

These pictures are so beautiful and when snow is a rarity we can really enjoy it, can’t we?

  57. March 6, 2010 8:43 am

Hi Kathy! Sorry for my delay in visiting. I sure miss all your posts.

This is a great set of photos and snow is DEFINITELY a rarity where I live. Thanks for sharing!
