Saturday Snapshot

February 12, 2011

This picture was taken by my uncle in August of 1954.  Shortly after my parents were married, my father was deployed for close to a year.  My grandmother insisted that my mother come home while he was gone.  This picture was taken at my grandmother’s house when he returned.

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books.  It’s easy to participate – just post a picture that was taken by you, a friend, or a family member and add your link on Alyce’s site.

What a beautiful couple! So what do you think her waist was , 21 inches, less? My mom was the same – don’t know how they did it!

I am in the process of finding old pictures and its bittersweet to see our parents so young. I see a strong resemblence to your mom.

Kathy you are your mother’s daughter, no ifs buts … you are the splitting image of your mom. I see class runs in the blood line.

I absolutely adore your photos, but you know that. My grandparents had a similar story of getting married and then my grandfather going overseas. How strange it must have been to be newlyweds and then have to separate for so long. I always think about how strong they were 🙂 Your parents are lovely.

I continue to love all these photos. I do think we lack that sense of style that all women had back then. It is sad really. I’m such a schlub!
