At the movies: Big Stone Gap
Adriana Trigiani has brought her best-selling novel, Big Stone Gap, to the big screen and it’s a movie you won’t want to miss. It’s a movie the whole family can see and it’s perfect for book clubs!
Ave Maria’s mother passes away and leaves a letter with shocking news that makes Ave question her place in her hometown of Big Stone Gap. She’s feeling lonely and trapped and thinks maybe it’s time to move on until something happens and she comes to realize she just might belong in this little town with a big heart.
Trigiani wrote and directed Big Stone Gap so it stays true to the plot and spirit of the book. The movie’s all-star cast is absolutely fantastic, in particular Patrick Wilson – he’s swoon-worthy in his role as Jack Mac. Since I’d read the book recently, I knew what was going to happen and the movie still made me laugh and cry. It’s sure to be a classic so you don’t want to miss it!
Must take my mother to see this movie, she loves the books! Thanks for the review.
I read this book, but it’s been a while ago. I might have to refresh my memory and read it again and then keep my fingers crossed it will come to our lone movie theater.
I haven’t read the book or seen the movie, but I want to do both.
I can’t wait to see this movie. The book was good. Adriana is so talented. Not only did she write the book but she directed the movie too!
Always looking for a good movie to see. Thanks for the rec.
That’s so cool for her that she got a movie made!
Big Stone Gap was the first book I read from this author, and I was hooked! I can’t wait to see this movie…I hope it comes here this weekend. I love several of the actors in the movie…great preview! Thanks for sharing.
I haven’t read the book but I so love Ashley Judd. I’d see it just for her.
I’ve never read the book, so I wasn’t sure what to expect in the trailer. Love the cast and the music – definitely a movie to watch with my mom and sis. I’m glad you posted about it 🙂
