Mailbox Monday
December 14, 2009
Mailbox Monday is one of my favorite memes – a big thanks to Marcia of The Printed Page for hosting it. Head on over there to see what everyone else got last week or if you want to join in the fun. I had a great week last week, since almost all of my books were wins! Here’s what I found in my mailbox last week:
Tuesday
- The Embers by Hyatt Bass was a win from The Book Studio
Wednesday
- Cleaving (audio book) by Julie Powell came from Hachette Books
Thursday
- A Note from an Old Acquaintance by Bill Walker was a win from The Book Faery Reviews
- Kissing Games of the World by Sandi Kahn Shelton was a win from At Home With Books
Friday
- What the Dog Saw (audio book) by Malcolm Gladwell was a win from Thoughts of Joy
- Perfection by Julie Metz was a win from Giving Books Back to You!

Nice wins. Perfection has been on my “want to read” list for a while. Hope you enjoy them all!
You won a ton of terrific books!
Looks like another great stack of books!
The Embers looks good! I recently read Kissing Games of the World and enjoyed it.
Lots of wins for you! I enjoyed Perfection when I read it this summer. Hope you do too.
Wow, you had a great week. What The Dog Saw looks like it could qualify for the Chunkster Challenge.
Have a great week and enjoy your books.
I’m currently listening to What the Dog Saw & think it is fascinating (Gladwell can make even the most mundane things sound incredible). Hope you enjoy it too!
Also as I want to read Cleaving I look forward to your review (still have to read Julie & Julia, but I loved the movie).
You’ve got some good ones there! I really enjoyed Outliers by Gladwell. He is just mind-blowing. I’ll be curious about Cleaving. I was entertained by Julie & Julia, but this one sounds a tad bit bizarre!
I only read Perfection from that pile – it was a book I was surprised that I liked!
Julie Powell book looks interesting. I loved the first one .Some good books u got this week. Have fun reading
I thought Perfection was fabulous and passed it along to my mom for her to enjoy. Curious to see your thoughts.
Wow, lots of books. I only got one. Here’s mine!
Congrats on those wins! happy reading.
I can’t wait to hear about Cleaving. I really enjoyed Julie and Julia, so I would be interested to know if this one is as good.
I really enjoyed both The Embers and Kissing Games of the World…you’re in for two good reads! Looking forward to what you think…Happy Monday!
These all look great Kathy! I have The Embers on my shelf and I’m looking forward to when I get to read it. Enjoy your new books!

You listen to a lot of books, Kathy; that’s great. I always fall asleep, even if I try to listen while driving! Must be a hold-over from the days of my mom reading to me before bed!
The Wives of Henry Oades on my list was excellent. It came last Monday and I plowed right through it.
Those looks interesting. Enjoy!
Great books, Kathy! I have a few of these to read myself such as Kissing Games and What the Dog Saw! Perfection and The Embers are on my tbr list, too!
Happy Reading!
Your mailbox was busy this week! You sure won a lot of good sounding books! Happy reading!
Ooh, “The Embers” is a good read – enjoy!
I’m looking forward to Cleaving myself.

I’m curious about the new Julie Powell book. Hope it’s good.
Kathy, you will not need to go to a bookstore for months!
Of these, I’d most like to read or listen to Malcolm Gladwell’s latest book.
Looks like some great books. Enjoy!
Congrats on all your wins! I have The Embers on my TBR pile as well. Enjoy your books!
Great stack of reading material you have there Kathy! That should tide you over for a few days 🙂
I just won What the Dog Saw a few weeks ago and think it looks great! I hope you like it. I also read and enjoyed Perfection and hope that you find it as engrossing as I did! Very cool wins!
Well, I’m not familiar with any of these so I look forward to seeing what you think!
You got some great books Kathy. What the Dog Saw is on my wish list. I’m guessing your TBR pile is growing by leaps and bounds?? 🙂
Great stack of books. You sure have been lucky lately.
I always enjoy seeing your stack of Mailbox Monday books!
I read Perfection. The topic wasn’t a fun one, but I thought the book was well done.
Ah – what’s better than books in the mail? Enjoy! 😀
After reading the review of CLEAVING in the NYT , I wonder, wonder, wonder what you will make of that.
Be honest. I know you will.
I’m looking forward to reading Cleaving. I put it on hold at the library as soon as I heard it was coming out. Nice stack of books this week!
Terrific mailbox this week. I haven’t done a Mailbox Monday in ages. I need to get back on the book wagon.
What a great week you had! You’re going to have to buy the UPS guy a Christmas present to thank him for making all of those stops at your house.
As usual, a lovely collection of books. I read “The Embers” and found it quite moving. Pretty good for a debut novel.
Looks like you got a great collection of books.
Great books you have there! I’m very interested in Gladwell’s book.
A good list of books! I’m interested to see what you think of Cleaving. I’d like to read it but not sure if I can get through all the butcher talk.
I’m looking forward to listening to Cleaving as well!
The Embers was definitely an interesting book, though a bit too dark and twisty for my tastes! Still, I hope you like it 🙂 Lots of great reads!
None of these sound familiar to me, but they all sound interesting. Enjoy!
Oh, I really want to read THE EMBERS! Enjoy all your new books, Kathy!
