Review: Testimony
Testimony by Anita Shreve is a gripping tale that explores the way that so many lives can be changed by one simple action. The University of Vermont is doing research on adolescent males and alcohol, so they investigate a sex scandal that rocked a prep school and it’s surrounding community two years previous. The University conducts interviews with as many of the involved people as possible, so the story is told from many different perspectives. The deeper they delve, the more the reader learns about the events that led up to the unfortunate incident.
Once I started this powerful book, I didn’t want to put it down. It really made me think about the way that one poor decision can affect so many different lives. This book may well be Anita Shreve’s best effort to date. It will be released by Hachette Books on October 21.
I’m glad you liked it! I have an ARC waiting for this one, too, but I have to read all the books for release in September first.
“Powerful” I totally agree with that. This is the best Shreve book I’ve read so far.
I can’t wait to read this! I’ve read all of her other books and enjoyed them. Glad to hear it won’t disappoint!
I so want to read this one! Glad to hear it’s so good!
I am happy to hear that Testimony was a good one. I have it sitting by. I used to read all her books. I read Weight of Water, Resistance, and several others and then I stopped because it seemed like the same thing. I can’t wait to read Testimony. Thanks for the review.
I’m looking forward to reading this. It’s based on a scandal at a prep school near Boston. Sounds great!
Oooh, I’m glad you liked this! I have a copy of it, as well but I was saving it till closer to the release date.
I had to come check out your review too! It looks like we agreed on how good it was.
Ooooh, this sounds really, really good!
I haven’t read anything by Anita Shreve before this other than Body Surfing and The Pilot’s Wife, both of which I just thought were okay. I feel like this book is on an entirely different level.
I agree, a very powerful novel that makes you ask a lot of questions. I linked your review to mine.
I felt like I couldn’t put it down either…sped through it and loved it. She just doesn’t disappoint.
