Happy Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2010

I hope everyone is able to enjoy some time with loved ones on this Valentine’s Day!  My sweetie got tired of seeing stacks of books all over the place, so he gave me these bookcases.  I had so much fun arranging books in them – alphabetical order, by author’s last name, thank you very much.

  4. February 14, 2010 3:00 pm

My sweetie gets very frustrated by my piles of books all over our apartment! Funny to read on other blogs that it is a universal significant-other-of-a-book-blogger feeling. Happy Valentine’s Day!

  5. February 14, 2010 3:07 pm

Happy Valentines Day to you too!! And that’s an excellent book case!! So many books can go in there! 🙂

  6. February 14, 2010 3:13 pm

    I NEED more bookcases.
and maybe a bigger house to put them in.

  7. February 14, 2010 3:18 pm

Wow, great present! Happy Valentine’s Day!

  8. February 14, 2010 3:19 pm

These shelves are gorgeous, but I have to ask this question: Are those just your ARCs on the shelves? LOL I know you have a lot more books than than what you are showing us here.

  9. February 14, 2010 3:26 pm

Very nice kathy. Curious to know is that your TBR books? ARCs? Cause if they are I am jealous LOL

I am sure it won’t be long before they are filled up.

That man has the right idea!!!! 🙂

  16. February 14, 2010 4:39 pm

Oh, that is an awesome gift! And it looks like you have room left! You need to go shopping I think.

  17. February 14, 2010 4:42 pm

You have space left over! That’s like having money in the bank, thinking how many books you can have on the empty shelves.

  18. February 14, 2010 5:05 pm

Perfect gift for a book lover! 🙂

  19. February 14, 2010 5:05 pm

  24. February 14, 2010 6:38 pm

What a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift. I’m glad you had a great time organizing the shelves. Not doing it by color? LOL

Hubby and I had been watching the olympics earlier, but apparently, he’s decided to rearrange the laundry room!

  25. February 14, 2010 6:50 pm

Happy Valentine’s Day! Those shelves are beautiful, and there’s plenty of room for expansion.

  26. February 14, 2010 6:53 pm

Totally superior gift! Now he has set a precedent and next year you will probably need another few bookcases to stash all your goodies in. Enjoy putting them all on the shelves.

  30. February 14, 2010 8:00 pm

Looks like you have some space left! Should I send you my cast-offs from Blob? Happy V-Day Kathy, I’m so happy I know you, you make my world a better place.

  31. February 14, 2010 8:18 pm

What a good husband! Happy Valentines day!

  33. February 14, 2010 8:49 pm

Oh, nice! I love bookcases. I don’t have enough room for all my books right now. I have boxes and boxes at my parents house. One day, I will have room for all of them…

  34. February 14, 2010 9:20 pm

Love the bookshelves- what a perfect V-Day gift!!!!! Enjoy 🙂

    they’re gorgeous!!

  41. February 15, 2010 2:47 am

Your husband is most definitely a sweetie. Only fellow book lovers can understand the joy you had alphabetizing your books. Wish I could have helped.

  42. February 15, 2010 4:49 am

Aaaw! So much to fill! How sweet of your sweetie!

Fabulous present — but you have empty spots! Clearly you don’t need BLOB (or you were playing without telling anyone).

  44. February 15, 2010 8:22 am

Your sweetie is a sweetheart.::)) My problem is we can’t find another place to fit a book case. I have four in our bedroom. There are also two bookcases in the guest bedroom. Oh my! So, challenges help me to empty these book shelves. Then, I can fill the shelves again. You’ve got to keep going. You can’t give up. Books win out. Happy Belated Valentine’s Day.

  45. February 15, 2010 9:23 am

Now that is the kind of Valentine’s present I needed. Instead he bought me book vouchers. He really does encourage my habit.

  46. February 15, 2010 10:18 am

Oh I’m jealous! LOVE the bookshelves…where did he find them!?

  47. February 15, 2010 11:13 am

thats a great valentines day gift 🙂

  48. February 15, 2010 11:38 am

Those are lovely – what a great gift! My books are scattered all over the apartment. When the fiance and I move in together, it will be an interestingly battle with boxes of books (no alliteration intended) to see what makes the cut. New York is not known for large living or storage spaces, after all! I’m very jealous of your (well-organized) shelves.

  49. February 15, 2010 12:09 pm

Bookshelves! Now that is true love. And now that everything is so tidy–and you have space–it must be time to add a few volumes. Enjoy!

  50. February 15, 2010 12:26 pm

My bookshelves are arranged the same. You have OCD too?

  51. February 15, 2010 12:47 pm

Yay! That is a perfect present for a book lover! I am glad that you like them and they really look nice. I bet you will have a great time filling them!

  52. February 15, 2010 12:51 pm

    What a great gift!

  53. February 15, 2010 1:23 pm

How sweet! What a perfect gift!

  54. February 15, 2010 2:33 pm

Nice! I’m still trying to convince my husband to get a full wall bookshelf to replace my 3 bookcases scattered here and there…

  55. February 15, 2010 3:00 pm

OMG! I would be in heaven with a project like that! What a thoughtful sweetie you have! Thanks for visiting my blog!

Oh my goodness–look at all that room to grow you have!

  59. February 15, 2010 10:06 pm

Your husband knows exactly what to get you! You’ll have to post another picture when your shelves are full!

  60. February 16, 2010 10:40 am

Lucky you Kathy! What a good man!

  61. February 16, 2010 2:19 pm

Have fun filling up all that space!

  62. February 17, 2010 8:21 am

What a great gift! And it looks like you have plenty of space for even more books. 🙂

  63. February 17, 2010 11:59 am

  64. February 17, 2010 1:57 pm

    Very nice!

  65. February 18, 2010 11:08 am

I just put up more shelves, too. This was the first time I arranged them by author’s last name, and I really like it! However, I split them up into different categories, too.

  66. February 18, 2010 2:50 pm

Oh my gosh, what an awesome gift! I’m jealous!

Gorgeous shelves – I wish I had them, although not really sure where I’d put them in my tiny dorm room. And I love that you have your books in alphabetical order by author’s last name. So organized!

What a beautiful bookcase, Kathy! You’re one blessed woman. Happy Belated Valentine’s Day!
